MIND and CONSCIOUSNESS

Bridging Science and Spirituality

Saturday November 15 at 1:00 pm

Recent discoveries in science show us that some of the knowledge we take for granted is not as solid as we thought. For example, we don't know yet if the brain produces consciousness or if it is consciousness that uses and shapes the brain? Is consciousness only a human reality or is it also experienced by animals, plants and minerals to varying degrees? Does our consciousness survive after death?

A new generation of open minded scientists are overcoming old taboos and unfounded materialistic assumptions, reaffirming the purpose of science, which is: the Quest for Truth.

Both the mind and consciousness remain a mystery. Perhaps we should accept, live and explore this mystery and not just try to ''solve the problem'' as Gandhi once said.

So, should we not be surprised to see that science is starting to "rediscover" this very human reality at the core of our identity, beyond the veil of matter?
